She is an expert on the United nations, global diplomacy, NATO, national security, and foreign relations. Her autobiography, Madame Secretary: A Memoir, was followed by The Mighty and the Almighty which was published in May 2006.

The prolific and award winning author rocked the Muslim world with the publication of his book, The Satanic Verses, resulting in a fatwa, essentially a death sentence, being issued against him.
