Item Description

Watercolor

Watercolor measures 8.75”x7” with frame measures 12.5”x11”

I did this painting after reading an article on Kandinski called “Kandinski: Compositions” by Magdalena Dabrowski. I love to work with colors and I had a lot of fun choosing colors and painting this picture. Although I have always been captivated by color, my undertaking in watercolor really began when I moved to Woodstock in 1999. It had always been a dream of mine to pick up a paint brush and capture the feeling of a scene, and this is where the journey began. I now realize that every painter has great and glorious ideas in their heads, but capturing it on paper is the real challenge. I believe in what Henri Matisse said; “Without anxiety you can’t paint.” I have tried to use that anxiety to transform a plain piece of paper into color and form. Sometimes I produce paintings that I love and other times, I turn out paintings I grow to love. The ideas, techniques, and feelings that I have acquired from delving into watercolor have spilled over handcrafts, specifically the knitting I do. Right now I am involved in building a business, named Abundancia, where I design infants and children’s hats and sweaters that are knit by women’s cooperatives in Uruguay. My budding experience with watercolor has been a tremendous help in choosing colors and designs. Visit my website at:  www.kidknit.com.
