Sara Altieri, an artist and graphic designer, has opened Slant Designworks, a creative organization specializing in graphic and Web design, digital illustration and contemporary art. Altieri is an experienced graphic designer and contemporary artist. Originally from Chicago, she has exhibited her work locally and throughout the Midwest and in Los Angeles, where she began her career. She has an admiration for Mexican folk art. Her recent series of paintings exhibits her appreciation for the Mexican tradition, Day of the Dead, a celebration to remember loved ones who have passed. She used bold, vibrant, undiluted colors in addition to little Milagros, small silver sculpture that are placed on shrines, altars, etc., to help promote healing, good luck and other successes. She also used images from la Loteria, a game of chance. Her paintings are a celebration of these Mexican traditions, symbols, and beliefs.
