The Somerville Youth & Recreation Foundation (SYRF) was formed exclusively for charitable purposes. The principle objective is to elicit funding through solicitation, grant writing and fund raising to support the immediate needs of the youth in Somerville by providing the youth with opportunities that address their activity needs, interest and aspiration’s for the future. The youth of Somerville need educational and sporting programs to help foster and nurture their growth.

SYRF Sponsored Programs and Activities

By supporting this foundation, you will be providing access for the youth of Somerville to just a few of the following activities and programs listed below: 

  • Trip’s to educational locations (i.e., New England Aquarium, Museum of Science, etc.);
  • Camping overnight with youths, parents/volunteers; Youth employment programs;
  • Community events (neighborhood social gatherings);
  • Sponsoring youths to participate in arts/sciences based programs; Mentoring program’s;
  • A “Safe Haven” providing a safe place for the youth of Somerville to meet, to play, and socialize with friends without the fear of confrontations from gang’s members;
  • Summer Day Program, offering a summer camp program in response to the community needs;
  • The Special Needs Program to family with children who have special needs;
  • Offer sporting (i.e., Basketball, Tennis, etc.) activities to the community;
  • Specialty Program’s for young children at the Capuano School;
  • High School Sport Scholarships for those in need.
Auction items range from exotic vacation getaways to donated items guaranteed to delight and surprise. Proceeds from your auction event will go to Somerville Youth & Recreation Foundation (SYRF) in order to support the youth of Somerville, Ma. Please tell your friends, family, community that the bidding is about to begin!
