LEGENDS 2: Women who have Changed the World Through the Eyes of Great Women Writers
In this stunning collection of photos and essays, women writers pay tribute to some of the most influential women of our time. A follow-up to the popular photography book Legends, which profiled women of the twentieth century, Legends 2 moves into the twenty-first. These are the women who are changing our time. This intimate collection of portraits reveals both writer and subject in fifty inspired pairings: Each piece is accompanied by a lush full-page duotone by such eminent photographers as Annie Leibovitz, Matthew Rolston, Brigitt LaCombe, and Michael Collopy. These fifty women come from all walks of life--art, politics, literature, fashion, science, and sports--but they all have one thing in common: They have made legendary contributions to our world.
FACES OF HOPE: Children of a Changing World
Perhaps best known for her photography of Tibet and its culture in exile, Alison Wright has traveled the world for more than two decades as a photojournalist. Working for children's aid organizations such as UNICEF, Save the Children, CARE, and SEVA, she has dedicated herself to telling the stories of children in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. In Faces of Hope, Wright presents her finest photographs, showing the resolute spirit of these kids in the face of poverty, famine, and conflict, and demonstrating how, with education and opportunity, they can become powerful assets to their struggling countries and to the world. In extended captions, Wright tells of her encounters with the children, detailing their cultural traditions, explaining their difficulties, and recounting their extraordinary lives.
