Item Description
The name of this contemporary painting is "Don't Sugarcoat It". Jerome Gray, the artist, used salt to look like sugar on the canvas and tangerine colored paint over the chocolate paint on the screen to represent all the sugarcoating that goes on in society.
Watch Jerome on the MDA Telethon on KPRC Local 2! This painting will be featured on "Auction Alley" during the show.
Not only is Jerome a dedicated Telethon emcee, his annual art shows have benefited The Stop Ald Foundation (stopald.org) and Aldine Y.O.U.T.H (aldineyouth.org). This year's show at New Gallery (newgallery.net) will benefit the Fifth Ward Enrichment Program (fwepinc.org). The beautiful poem that goes along with this painting is as follows:
Don't Sugarcoat It
We screen our calls, guard our sensitivities. We hide behind fences and barricade our hearts.
We plunge into tangerine dreams and pour out chocolate kisses of insincerity.
Don't sugarcoat it. The truth is ripe and refreshing.
~Jerome Gray
