Item Description
Our historical documents are the records of our heritage, and preserving, conserving, and interpreting them are essential to telling the story of our region and our nation. This private 2-hour tour of the Northeast Document Conservation Center (group limited to 15) provides a rare behind-the-scenes tour of this regional conservation lab and will provide a unique opportunity to see conservators at work, using both centuries-old and state-of-the-art equipment. Learn how the Center came to be and talk to conservators in the paper, book, microfilm, and digital labs about the challenges they face in conserving our cultural heritage. Conservators will discuss treatments for specific items on display, including books, maps, photographs, and works of art on paper.
