Item Description
What's the latest hot TV show that will premiere May 22nd and is being touted as the next "American Idol?" It's "On the Lot", Steven Spielberg's new Reality Filmmaking Show! Winner will receive two tickets to an episode taping!
Aspiring filmmakers can take a first step towards becoming a 'Hollywood movie director' by taking part in Fox's new reality competition series On the Lot.
On the Lot, executive-produced by reality kingpin Mark Burnett and director Steven Spielberg, will award a $1-million development deal at Paramount-owned, DreamWorks studio to the winner.
Airing spring 2007 on Fox, the unscripted series will feature a cast of 16 undiscovered filmmakers whose career climb will be decided by a weekly audience vote.
Finalists will be brought to Hollywood and divided into teams, producing short films from a chosen genre, including comedies, thrillers, dramas, romance, sci-fi and horror, with access to professional writers, cast and crew.
After the teams have battled time frames and budgets, their films will be critiqued in front of a live studio audience during the 'Film Premiere' episode.
Judges will include a motion picture executive, prominent film critic and succession of guests, including established directors in that week’s genre. But the filmmakers ultimately will be judged by the viewing public, determining which films will be left on the cutting-room floor. On the 'Box Office' results episode, directors whose films garner the fewest votes will be sent home.
As directors are eventually eliminated, the winning filmmaker will head to DreamWorks On the Lot for a $1-million studio development deal.
