Jeff Foott specializes in wildlife and landscape photography. His extensive photographic library, which was acquired by Discovery Channel in its entirety, includes a wide variety of marine mammals, underwater scenes, bears, birds, wildflowers and much more.
Born in Berkeley, Calif., Jeff Foott studied biology at San Jose State University and went on to do research at Moss Landing Marine Laboratories where he published several scientific papers on sea otters. Drawn to the wilderness, Jeff worked as a national park ranger in Yosemite National Park, as a professional mountain climbing guide and on the ski patrol at Jackson Hole, Wyo., before turning to cinematography and still photography in 1970.
His still photography has appeared in hundreds of magazine publications, including National Geographic, Audubon, National Wildlife and International Wildlife, as well as numerous books, calendars, posters and notecards.
Jeff makes time to give several lectures and workshops each year on various aspects of natural history photography. He has written articles regarding the ethics of wildlife photography and makes it a priority to photograph animals and their habitats without disrupting their natural environment.
Jeff also writes a travelogue for the Discovery Channel.
