Approximately 100 years old. Use it as a planter or put a top on it for a side table! These handsome antique Japanese ceramic vessels (or Hibachi) were originally filled with coals and used as space heaters in Japanese homes. They were occasionally filled with very hot water to keep sake warm and placed adjacent to an honored guest. These charming ceramics first appeared during the Meiji period (1868-1912). The bright blue and contrasting white colors create a classic element that is welcome in any decor.
