Item Description

A unique opportunity to own some of the most breath-taking photographic artwork of the Essex National Heritage Area's beautiful Great Marsh region, captured by nationally-renowned, award-winning photographer Dorothy Monnelly.

The 11x14 print of the photograph Witch Island, Daybreak is matted to 16x20 and framed. The image is an archival gelatin print, signed, and labeled as an artist's proof.

Accompanying the framed print is an autographed copy of Monnelly's new book Between Land and Sea: The Great Marsh. This collection of 57 exquisite black-and-white photographs, crisply rendered from Monnelly's large-format silver gelatin prints, is a spellbinding meditation on the Great Marsh, a vast, mysterious, and ever-shifting world that is one of the last unspoiled wilderness areas of the Northeast. Stretching from Salisbury, down the northern coast of Essex County all the way to Gloucester, the Great Marsh is the largest salt marsh in New England and includes over 20,000 acres of marsh, barrier beach, tidal river, estuary, mudflat, and upland islands. The book includes a moving essay by writer Doug Stewart, whose work has appeared in Smithsonian and other prominent national and natural history publications.
