Classical, Jazz, Boogie Piano Lessons Professional pianist with many years teaching experience offering two free half-hour lessons to a child, teenager, or adult. My qualifications: Have had a small number of students consistently for the last 12 years; Spent five years teaching high school science and math, developing teaching skills and strategies; Have excellent rapport with children and adults alike, and I am an excellent listener; Able to work well with the moods of young children to elicit their enthusiastic participation. I have studied piano myself since early childhood. For young students, I teach Suzuki classical ear training, which is the method I was trained on. With the Suzuki method, students are trained to rely equally on sight reading and playing by ear. This develops a fantastic level of musicianship, which for me has been a guiding force in my professional career. For older students, I follow their interest, usually emphasizing a background in jazz, blues, and New Orleans style boogie-woogie.
