Item Description
Explore the protected marshes and waterways of the North Shore coastline, enjoying a unique view of Essex County's maritime heritage from the water! Join a friendly marine sport professional from Plum Island Kayak (based in Salem and Newburyport) for this unique experience.
This personal 3-hour guided kayak tour for two can use one of many drop-off and take-out points along the Lower Merrimack River from as far inland as Rocks Village down to Plum Island Point. The tide and the wind are factors which determine the route and direction you'll paddle for the tour. You'll explore a variety of unique habitats including salt and freshwater marshes, estuaries and other adjoining waterways along the Merrimack: the Indian River, the Powwow River, Town Creek, Joppa Flats, the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge, and Plum Island Sound.
