Item Description
This once-in-a-lifetime adventure does not just throw you into the cold, unforgiving waters of Alcatraz to see if you can sink or swim. You will be trained by Steve Hurwitz, who has conquered these waters over 300 times! There are spots available for four of you outstanding athletes for this private swim from Alcatraz to San Francisco. Before you prove your prowess, the lucky bidders and their guests will dine together in San Francisco and spend a luxurious night at the Argonaut Hotel, courtesy of Franklin's 4th grade classes. This incredible package includes the glass-bottomed zodiac pilot boat ride for the swimmers and their guests. In addition, Burlingame parent and sports photographer extraordinaire, Mark Hundley, will capture your precision strokes with his precision cameras. Picture This Productions is donating a spectacular custom DVD photo show to highlight memorable moments of the adventure, and to bring Mark's photo's to life. This DVD will include up to 50 photos, music, custom introduction, conclusion and packaging with endless special effects and titles. It's a great way to relive the event and share with family and friends. After the swim, the champions will be adorned with commemorative hoodie sweatshirts, custom designed by Access Uniforms, to celebrate their amazing accomplishment -- a feat tried by many and successfully hurdled by this Hurwitz Team. Our lawyers made us say this: this swim is across potentially strong Bay currents and requires that the participants be in good physical condition and have the ability to swim at least 40 minutes continuously in a swimming pool by event date. The water temp will be in the mid to high 50's - wetsuit optional. All permits included. This event begins with dinner Friday evening, June 8, 2007, with the swim taking place Saturday morning June 9. Each of the four available slots is being auctioned separately Dutch Auction style.
