Enjoy a two night stay this summer at the Broadway Inn B&B and tour down east Maine.
Built in 1888, this New England farmhouse was established as the Broadway Inn in the early 1920s. Recently restored, this wonderful old house is operated by the Hahn family. Centrally located in the historic town of Machias, the Broadway Inn B&B is close to the University of Maine at Machias and just a short walk to local churches, restaurants, shops, and other historic sites. The Broadway Inn provides six spacious guest rooms with four full baths. Each guest room is creatively decorated to celebrate authors who have written among the best of New England literature and poetry. The gift shop offers a nice collection of Maine literature and regional gifts. Enjoy full breakfasts with home-baked blueberry muffins, fresh fruit and juices, and a hot entrée each day. Make yourself comfortable in our Adirondack rocking chairs on the front porch, bedecked with gingerbread trim, where afternoon refreshments are served.
The Machias Bay area and the surrounding region offer a range of special activities--from exploring the outdoors including hiking, kayaking and fishing on the bold coast to visiting historical points of interest, shopping, antiquing, enjoying local cuisine, and simply relaxing. We are approximately two hours by car from the artist colony of St. Andrews, New Brunswick with international shopping. Passamaquoddy Bay and the Bay of Fundy make excellent day excursions. Both are renowned for whale watching, 25-foot tides and fishing. We also recommend visiting the historical fishing village of Eastport and the exceptional boat tours to Machias Seal Island to view the puffin colonies. The Roosevelt International Park on Campobello Island is but a chip shot away from the town of Lubec, ME, a 40-minute drive from Machias. Golf courses are found in St. Andrews, Campobello, Calais, Roque Bluffs, and just south of Machias.
