Item Description
24"x24" paint on canvas
"I scream, you scream, we all scream for ... CUPCAKES!" They're hot.
These delicious looking canvasses are the proud creation of Mrs. Spooner's Kindergarten class. Like the children themselves, no two cupcakes are alike. Each child decorated his or her cupcake with pride, layering cut paper, "paint" icing, and small bead "sprinkles."
American painter Wayne Thiebaud's famous cake and pastry works are the inspiration for these cheerful pieces. Thiebaud's paintings are most associated with the early 'Pop Art' movement of the 1950's and 60's because of his interest in objects of mass culture.
Our young artists agree -- cupcakes are definitely objects of mass interest.
