Item Description
This item is a day of sailing for two or three people (> 10 years old) out of Westport Massachusetts. Westport is on Buzzards Bay and the border of Rhode Island. The drive takes an hour and 15 minutes from Cambridge.
The sailing is for any mutually agreeable day this summer. July is best. And if you want to do it midweek, Ron wouldn't mind having a good reason to take off some time from work.
The boat is a 26' Bristol Sloop. It has a cabin with a galley and head. It sleeps 4 people. Ron has been sailing out of Westport since 1987.
On a typical day out we would leave Westport about 9:00 in the morning and sail to Cuttyhunk (the last island on the chain of Elizabeth islands), Padanarum or Sakonett. Cuttyhunk is especially nice. It's a small island with about 50 residents that's a popular stopping point for sailors in the summer. The island is truly beautiful. We can anchor in the harbor or get off the boat and explore the island.
It usually takes 2.5 to 3.5 hours to make the crossing one way. Expect to get back late afternoon or early evening.
