Outside of Africa, Safari West is a place like no other. Nestled on 400 acres in the heart of California's wine country, Safari West is home for over 400 exotic mammals and birds. Not a zoo, not a drive-through park, it's a wildlife preserve where the whole family can experience some of nature's most beautiful animals in a natural habitat.
Start your day or afternoon by taking in a tour on an authentic safari vehicle. You will be surrounded by giraffe, gazelle, scimitar-horned oryx, ostrich and other species of African antelope—all sharing the beauty and diversity of the savannah environment. The wildlife park is designed to give the animals the ability to interact and roam about freely, as well as engaging guests in a once in a life time experience — an authentic luxury safari in the wine country. Get ready for a wild ride!
Your home for the night will be one of the tent cabins imported directly from Africa --authentic yet luxurious with canvas walls enclosing lush beds and hot showers. All tents are built on high wooden platforms with spacious decks so you can take in the view of grazing giraffes or enjoy the serenity of the private lake. At night, the sounds of the African savannah will serenade you to sleep.
In the evening dine on scrumptious safari ranch style BBQ at the onsite restaurant, the Savannah Cafe. You will also breakfast here as you watch the savannah come to life. Finally, as an added bonus your family gets to partake in a special behind the scenes tour. After dinner, head with the guide into the giraffe barn to help feed them and also visit other animals such as the white rhino and warthogs up close. This special tour will last 1 1/2 hours. |
