Item Description
An original silkscreen by George Rodrigue. Image size: 17" X 21". Paper size: 20" X 25". Signed open edition. This piece was created to help focus national attention on the need to develop and fund a consistent three-digit dialing system nationwide, to provide community, volunteer and human service information, particularly in natural disasters. Louisiana artist, George Rodrigue, created and donated an image of his well-known Blue Dog mired in red tape, to be used to represent the need for 2-1-1. Being a native of Louisiana, Rodrigue was concerned about the failure of systems and institutions to adequately respond to the hurricane destruction and was interested in contributing to the recovery and rebuilding efforts. George wanted to use his art to bring attention to the needs of people and communities whose lives had been severely disrupted.
Item Special Note
This print is offered in connection with Blue Dog Relief: George Rodrigue's art campaign for recovery in New Orleans. This charitable relief effort has already raised $750,000 for rebuilding and recovery efforts in the city.
