Item Description
Pete Rose is still booed in Shea Stadium for his hard collision with Bud Harrelson while trying to break up a double play in the 1973 New York-Cincinnati National League Championship Series. With Rose on first, Mets shortstop Harrelson made the force at second and was ready to complete the double play when Rose slid hard into Harrelson's legs forcing him to fall to the ground. The brawl was broken up, but the chaos continued when a whiskey bottle was hurled at Rose's head as he took the field in the next inning. Although the Reds lost that game, New Yorkers hatred for Rose never died. This 8x10 photograph captures the moment and has been hand signed by both Pete Rose and Bud Harrelson. This product comes complete with a Steiner Sports Certificate of Authenticity.
