Item Description
After a career spanning 21 years, including 126 games in Yankee Stadium, Cal Ripken played his final game in the Bronx on a rainy September night in 2001. Derek Jeter, whom Ripken recognized in his pre-game speech, caught the ceremonial first pitch thrown by Ripken. In this photograph, Ripken and Jeter, two of baseball's greatest infielders, shake hands, marking one of the most memorable moments in sports history.
