Item Description
This is an original etching by Salvador Dali, hand signed in pencil in the bottom right corner. Salvador Dali created many works of art inspired by classical works of literature including the Divine Comedy and Alice in Wonderland. It was the alternate worlds that fascinated Dali, whether they were real, religious, or imagined. The inspiration for this work of art is an ancient Japanese fairy tale, which is entitled Little One Inch. Little One Inch is a miniature warrior who's bravery and unmatched cleverness in defeating a horrible monster is rewarded by magic which makes him grow to regular proportion and win the love of the Princess. As all fairytales end, the princess and the hero live happily ever after. This fantasy world, which parallels the real life struggle of good versus evil, is Dali's major theme in this portfolio. This work is one of ten original etchings in the Japanese Fairytale portfolio, each etching representing a different eastern tale. This work is one of only 25 prints marked "H.C "signed by the artist. It is in pristine condition with no fading of colors. Salvador Dali is, and will always be the most famous of the surrealist artists This work of art is custom framed in a classic carved gold molding with a linen mat, matching gold fillet, and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from the Andrew Weiss Gallery, Beverly Hills, CA.
