Item Description
On one side of this piece there is an original color wood engraving and on the other is a black and white etching which has a signature in the plate. It is custom framed in a museum quality frame.
This piece, along with the entire Divine Comedy Portfolio, was commissioned by the Italian government to commemorate the 700th anniversary of Dante’s birth. This piece comes from a Special Deluxe set, of which only 150 were made. The Divine Comedy Portfolio includes 100 separate wood engravings in 3 suites: Heaven, Hell and Purgatory. It tells the story of Dante’s travel through the three realms. This particular piece is Dali’s interpretation of the Hell Canto. This piece is custom framed and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from the Andrew Weiss Gallery in Beverly Hills, CA.
