Item Description
Engrave your family, organization or company name on a granite marker placed at the base of a Freedom Tree in Beech Acres Park, 6910 Salem Road, at the Peace Pole Garden. Freedom Trees are an exciting addition -- planted Spring 2006 -- to the landscaping at the Peace Pole Garden. Freedom Trees are typically planted in groves of 400. However, special consideration permits the Peace Pole Garden to hold three trees with a "Freedom Trees" designation -- allowing our community to participate in this collaborative effort between Paul Hemmer/Sand Run Nursery and the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. At the project's completion, this living monument to the more than 4 million individuals sold into slavery in the United States will also aid in regional reforestation. A portion of your contribution -- $250 -- will be contributed to the National Underground Freedom Center to support their projects, research and programs.
Item Special Note
