Unmounted 11x14 photograph by Mary Annette Pember. Dream catchers, or Asubakacin (spider webs), are Ojibwe items that were hung over a child's cradle board to catch bad dreams. Photographer Mary Annette Pember is a member of the Red Cliff Band of Wisconsin Ojibwe and currently works in the Cincinnati area as an independent journalist focusing on native issues. She is past president of the Native American Journalists Association.
