Item Description
"Atlantic City of My Youth" was created by local New Jersey artist Susanne Woods Braddock. This one-of-a-kind design was styled after the Hereford Inlet Lighthouse in Wildwood NJ and part of the 2003 Beacons By The Sea community art event. The sculpture, originally purchased by Commerce Bank, is being made available for this auction. The inspiration for the sculpture was captured in a quote by the artist, "I consider myself very lucky to have experienced this era -- to stroll the boardwalk, watch top stars of the day, watch the fanfare of the Miss America Parade and pageant, and so many other glorious sights and sounds. I've displayed a lot of these wonderful memories on my lighthouse." Susanne Woods Braddock was born and raised in the Atlantic City area and attended Moore College of Art in Philadelphia before moving to Kansas City to illustrate for Hallmark Cards. While raising two daughters, she freelanced in New York, Philadelphia and Atlantic City. She later studied fine art at the University of New York and currently paints out of the Fine Arts League of Ocean City. The sculpture is a prefabricated mold and decorated with acrylic and polyurethane. It is 61.5 in high x 36 in wide x 64 in long and could be shipped via shipping company.
