Item Description
Dr. Bruce Rabin, or "Dr. Stress" as he is known to many in the media and his medical colleagues, prefers to focus his research on maintaining health, rather than concentrating on disease treatment. As a professor at the University of Pittsburgh Medical School and medical director of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Healthy Lifestyle Program, Dr. Rabin has found that stress - a factor that occurs in everyone's daily life, and is a constant topic of conversation - exerts a profound influence on the human immune system and subsequently on health.
Item Special Note
Your 2 hour meeting with Dr. Rabin will offer education to help you understand the mental and physical effects of stress and will provide you with skills that will minimize the effect of stress on your health. This is intended for healthy individuals who will benefit from increased stress-coping skills, or for individuals with diseases where stress coping can promote an enhanced sense of well being and possibly influence the course of disease. Examples of diseases that may benefit from enhanced stress coping skills include hypertension, depression, asthma, arthritis, cancer, atherosclerotic heart disease, chronic pain, sleep disturbances, psoriasis, chronic fatigue syndrome, multiple sclerosis, lupus, fibromyalgia, irritable bowel syndrome, and inflammatory bowel disease.
