Item Description
This gourmet wine basket includes the following wine:
2002 Chateau Lafite Rothschild Pauillac Carruades de Lafite
Rated: 87 by Steve Tanzer's International Wine Cellar. Dark ruby-red. Withdrawn aromas of currant and herbs. Dry and quite closed, with limited sweetness. Flavors of plum, leather and currant leaf show only modest ripeness. Firm acids give this wine a slight sour edge.
1998 Mauro Mascarello Barolo Monprivato
Rated: 89-91 by Steve Tanzer's International Wine Cellar. Medium amber-edged red. Aromas of red cherry and flowers, complicated by exotic peach and quince notes. At once penetrating and chewy; comes across as less thoroughly ripe than the Santo Stefano, but offers very good balance and purity of flavor. Here the chewy tannins are a bit less thoroughly buffered by mid-palate material. This very backward wine will need patience.
Reverie Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Mountain District
Rated: 89 by Steve Tanzer's International Wine Cellar. Deep red-ruby. Lively aromas of currant, minerals, smoke, spices and black olive. At once sweeter and more delineated than the cabernet franc, with more developed flavors of currant, plum, mocha, spices and herbs. Finishes with more harmonious tannins and riper, more persistent fruit flavors.
