Item Special Note
Malcolm Baroway's singular oils are in collections throughout Columbus and around the country. Though an acknowledged talent as a teenager, Baroway did not paint professionally until he retired as Ohio State's top PR officer a half a century later. He won his first juried award in 2001 and has been winning ever since. He is a member of the American Impressionist Society and Plein Air Painters of America, and recently was juried into the Oil Painters of America. The Sharon Weiss Gallery represents him locally. This piece portrays the father of Impressionism, Claude Monet, with his wife Alice, in his studio boat at La Grenouillere, a gathering place on the Seine where Monet and Renoir both painted. Many of Monet's best-loved works were painted from his boat.
