Item Description
Coletta Martin was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and attended the Art Academy of Cincinnati. She works as a painter and illustrator. Martin's work has been included in the American Institute of Graphic Arts Color Exhibition, Whitney Museum, New York; an award-winning One Woman Show, Cincinnati Art Museum; Change of Pace, Cincinnati Art Museum; Jewish Community Center, Cincinnati; College of Mt. St. Joseph; Governor's Residence, Columbus; Maritain Gallery, Loveland; One Person Show, Art Academy of Cincinnati; Janice Forberg Gallery, Cincinnati; Cincinnati Art Gallery; Weston Gallery, Aronoff Center. Her illustration began in 1946 with fashion drawing for Pogue's Department Store, followed by work for Writer's Digest, Modern Photography and Farm Quarterly magazines. Later, she did work for Champion Papers, Cincinnati Art Museum, Xomox, Young & Klein and others. Her awards include the Printing of America, Art Directors' Club and the AIGA, New York. Her illustrations have been exhibited at the AIGA, New York; Gutenberg Museum, Mainz, Germany; and at Universade '87, Zagreb, Yugoslavia. Martin's work is included in the following collections: Champion Paper; Xomox Corporation; Parkdale Library, Cincinnati; Cincinnati Art Museum; IBM; Blue Ash Corporate Park; WGUC; Providence Hospital; Lutheran Church, Chicago and Columbus; Cincinnati Bell.
