Item Description
Perhaps most well known as Pablo Picasso's lover from the 1940s-1950s, when she was in her early twenties, and he in his later sixties, Francois Gilot is the author of the famous tell-all book Life with Picasso. She was also a well-respected and well-represented artist in her own right. Her work focuses on the natural imagery of flowers and plants, while also exploring the medium she has chosen --whether paint or collage. Blending the "falsity" of art with the "reality" of nature, Gilot asks us to contemplate the purpose and skill of artists. She has received many awards for her writing and her art.
