Item Description

Elaine Lynch was born in 1973 just outside Washington, D.C. She received her BFA in painting from George Mason University before studying and working in Italy and New York City. In 1999, Lynch moved to New Mexico to persue her masters degree, completing her studies in May 2001, with an MFA in painting. She moved to Cincinnai and currently teaches at the University of Cincinnati, DAAP, College of Art. Lynch also teaches at the Art Academy of Cincinnati. She has received an Illinois Humanities Council Grant in conjunction with "Women Collecting: Gender, Beauty, and Ritual," a solo-show that premired at the Weston Gallery before traveling to Illinois. In the past year, Lynch has been included in several exhibitions, including "Spill, Suck, Collect and Stack" at the Warsaw Space in Cincinnati, "Smack" at Sidewinder in Cincinnati, "Drawing Narrative," at the Wooster College Art Museum, and "Abstract Painters" at the Indianapolis Art Center. Her film collaboration, Dozens', new work, Multiply, will be on view at the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland this fall. Lynch's instillation, "Pink, Plink, Pluck" is currently a favorite in the Center's UnMuseum.
