Item Special Note
Mike Elsass is an emerging self-taught artist from Dayton, Ohio. He paints abstract on rusted sheets of steel, mostly outdoors wherever his journey takes him. The work is fundamentally spiritual and meditative. He uses water, sun, sand, rain, salts, and acrylic paints. By painting, sponging, sanding and scratching the steel evolves until the final coat. The rest of the patterns contain beauty, depth and mystique. Many of his pieces will have up to forty coats of paint and glazing.
