I handcrafted this entire piece myself inside my prison cell on death row. I wanted to use this art show as my opportunity to bring some sense of awareness to others about the death penalty here in the United States. I made the entire project from nothing but hardback books, cardboard backs from legal pads and glue. In all, I used 6 old hardback books from the prison library and about 15 cardboard backs from the legal pads that I purchased from the commissary. The "chair" is made of cardboard from legal pads. With a small razor that the prison gives us weekly I cut and glued each piece together. The black straps on the chair are from my sandals. I cut each piece the size I wanted and the headpiece on the chair is a top I used from an eye drop bottle - along with a paper clip. The wire I used from old headphones. The plastic in the windows came from my photo album. I would be thankful and grateful for any revenues that I may earn for my work, but my primary reason in building this project wasn't for monetary gain, even though I'm aware that my work will be sold. My main goal was simply to use this art show and my work as a voice against the death penalty.
