Item Special Note
The materials and tools used are of course very limited. Among the few are basic art paper and color pencils, which I break down into powder and make into paint using water and oil, which I then apply onto the art paper using a technique similar to finger painting to achieve the almost "airbrush" effect of the roses and butterflies. Everything I use is homemade and/or salvaged from the few basic canteen items we're allowed to process in Ad Seg, such as the wrappers to form the "windows," the silver foil from the inside of potato chip bags to form the shiny lettering, to the glitter hearts I cut out from old birthday and Christmas cards.
This piece will be on display at the Lab Gallery at the
Roger Smith Hotel in NYC from December 13th-17th.
