Item Special Note
"Say Goodbye" is a self-portrait of sorts. About 12 years ago my ex-wife brought my son to see me in jail. He was almost two years old and I knew it would be a while before I saw him again. I didn't know it would be 12 years, or possibly never again, but I knew enough to cherish every moment. The hardest moment came when the guard rudely told me that the visit was over and to say good-bye. My baby son was asleep in my arms and never had he looked so beautiful. Those terrible words have echoed through my head over the years, every time I think of the last time I saw the son I love so much. I don't know where he is today or how he fares. I have no photographs or letters form him. I only have the memory of kissing his tiny nose as I said goodbye. This painting is of that memory.
