Item Description

11.5x14.5, ink pen, graphite pencil, colored pencil and watercolor on heavy paper

Item Special Note

This piece was born from a conversation I was having with a loved one regarding the Texas penal system and new policies that take away even more small privileges. We are no longer allowed to receive drawing or watercolor paper and "in-cell art cards" are no longer allowed, in effect denying us access to even the most basic art pencils and such. So, I was feeling "stifled" in my abilities to express myself. (This piece was done on my second to last piece of watercolor paper.) I decided the imagery in my mind could express the emotion I was feeling more adequately than the words I was fumbling with, and so "Man in the Box" was born.
