Item Special Note
This is the first picture I drew when I became incarcerated. No matter how much changes, the masks remain; to try desperately to conceal our pain and agony behind them, but all of us at sometime lose that battle. The flowers represent a growth that comes from within ourselves; we hold the key to our freedom. Finding that key is not easy, it is a long and tedious journey full of obstacles to overcome. But there is hope. That is why I show the sun coming in at the broken wall. With hope comes the knowledge that when this time ends, I only have to take with me what I choose to take with me: myself, my accomplishments while here, my hopes and my dreams. And so I share my experience through her, so that others may know that they are not alone in this journey and to always keep hope.
