I have been locked up since the age of 17 and I am now 27. I come up for my first parole next year. I am currently in Ad Seg and I have taught myself to draw simply because there is very little else to do. I found this picture of the lions in a magazine and it appealed to me a lot so I decided to draw it myself. It made me think about family. How sometimes animals just get the picure better than humans nowadays. I think about how high the divorce rate is. How low the birth rate has fallen How many kids are raised in broken families. We are supposed to be so sophisticated, yet there they are looking at us like we're stupid. I was raised in a broken hom myself. I often wonder how things may have turned out different if I hadn't. Maybe I would have been given a compass that was true instead of one that was broken and pointed me in the wrong direction in life. Hopefully I'll make parole next year and eventually find someone to love and start a family of my own. One things for sure: that compass that was broken? I threw it away. Once I get on my feet I'll be headed in the right direction.
