Item Special Note
I utilized reference photos clipped from magazines; i.e., the female form, the chameleon, the temple and statue. I had to sketch out each piece in its appropriate scale, using grids for each section. I used four typing pages taped together to sketch it all out as is. Thereafter I transferred the pattern onto the surface by using a pencil scratched page in place of carbon paper. For my color, I use the basic 12 to make more. I use a razor blade to scrape off the color and into fine powered, then I mix two or three others using hair grease to create a new color stick. A prison-made pastel color! In this control unit we can only purchase the 12 basic color pencils. From there I work my magic, layering pigments, blending them in with toilet paper stubs dipped in hair grease. With skill I create depth and forms. In this piece I selected bright colors for the radiance of my culture.
