Item Special Note
I cannot speak for the hearts and minds of other people, so I won't. But it appears the toughest part of prison is the separation one endures from loved ones. The isolation I began to endure from the simplest communion of speaking to someone face-to-face. Let alone the lack of contact from handshakes to more intimate touch had begun to take its toll on me. Along with all the simplest acts that so many tend to take for granted were now weighing heavily on my mind. The acts of freedom of daily choices, experiences and decisions one who is incarcerated is stripped of should not be viewed so lightly by those who claim prison is not a severe enough punishment. Because what prison can strip one of is the greatest attribute we as humans have, our humanity.
