Item Special Note
This piece was first inspired by a photo that an old friend sent me of the Three Sisters mountains in Oregon. Here in the SHU at Pelican Bay we can't have anything to draw with but a ballpoint pen, so to make the colors we scrape them off of magazine pages or soak candy from the canteen or a package in water and use that. The brown comes from coffee and/or a mix of those colors. After the colors are applied, some more ink on top gives it the contrast. A unique set of circumstances can inspire some unique art.
This piece will be on display at the Lab Gallery at the
Roger Smith Hotel in NYC from December 13th-17th.
