Item Description
Dawn & Dusk is one of Janet Shapero's stunning "Rete-Chromes" featured in the Attleboro Arts Museum's 6 Artists, 6 Visions juried exhibition in 2005. Its resplendent colors, layered on a fiberglass mesh screen, are both vibrant and meditative, at once translucent and opaque. Shapero sees screen as a metaphor for the filter of memory; like our life experiences, light flows through the image or occludes, creating complex shadows for a rich interplay of image and environment.
Dawn & Dusk measures 38"(h) x 17"(w) and is meant to be hung with transparent filament so that it floats inches from the wall.
Janet Shapero is an award winning multi-media artist who has been featured in numerous national and international exhibitions. Her work is found in public collections in the United States and abroad. She received her BFA in Sculpture from RISD and an MFA in Sculpture and Printmaking from the University of Wisconsin.
