Item Description

Inspired by her frequent travels to Peru, Mexico, Cuba and Spain, the imagery in Nancy Aleo's Black and Red Barcelona Series:I is born of a subconscious blending of her dreams, reflections and recollections. The piece is drawn with black sumi ink and red cochineal ink on handmade Oaxacan paper. The materials have ancient origins with the Mayas of Mexico, who first painted their sacred codices with the cochineal ink derived from the cochineal beetle.

Black and Red Barcelona Series: I measures 29"(h) x 17"(w) in a black wood frame under glass (image size: 25" x 24").
