Item Description
Ellen Gibson occupies a singular position as a sculptor and visionary whose work lends itself to a deeper appreciation of items we so often take for granted. This untitled wall sculpture was created in rural Virginia next to a river that was flooding. With bamboo that grew along the river, a stick used to mark the rising waters, and a rock that was nearly washed downstream, Gibson created a very special piece that survives to tell the tale.
Untitled is a mixed media sculpture measuring 31"(h) x 6"(w) x 4"(d).
Ellen Gibson studied art at Boston University and received her MFA in sculpture from Mass College of Art. She has been an Artist-in-Residence in Illinois, Georgia and Vermont and has exhibited extensively throughout the country. Sculptures from her unique tool series are featured in several collections, including the John Hechinger Tools as Art collection at the National Building Museum in Washington, D. C.
