Item Description
This 1982 maritime heritage print imagines the viewer looking from what today is the terminal complex of Logan Airport towards Fort Independence, Castle Island. It is an exercise in chiaroscuro using as a model one of man's most magnificent creations, The Bark "W.B. Flint" at East Boston. The signed Stobart limited edition(241/750) print measures 30"(h) x 38"(w) in a wood frame under glass(image size:19" x 29").
John Stobart creates maritime paintings and limited edition prints that are collected around the world. He is represented in the collections of the Peabody Museum in MA, and the Portland Museum of Art in Maine. Educated at the most prestigious art academies in Britain, John Stobart has created books and a video series called Worldscape I and II, that have enabled him to teach painting to a vast audience of devoted followers. The Stobart Foundation continues to sponsor young painters who are influenced by the history and tradition of the plein air painters.
