Item Description
With its mythical reference to one of the fates -- "the cutter of the thread of destiny," Atropos is a wooden sculpture with a toy-like quality set in "ironic counterbalance with a certain amount of dark whimsy," according to sculptor Rob Millard-Mendez. A small, elegant sculpture perfect for a desktop or as a gift for someone who has everything, Rob Millard-Mendez' Atropos is both lovely and playful. The artist has crafted this whimsical wonder of mahogany and ebony. It measures 5"(h) x 3"(w) x 3"(d).
"The mechanics, motion and the wonders born of fertile, non-nonsense Yankee minds," enthrall Rob Millard-Mendez. Described as a "rare sculptor with a sense of humor," Rob is an adjunct professor in 3-D design at Stonehill College. He is also an award-winning skilled artisan who received his BFA in Sculpture from U. Mass, Lowell and his MFA in Sculpture from U. Mass Dartmouth. Rob has exhibited widely across the U.S. His work is featured in the Appalachian Center for Crafts and the Revolving Museum in Lowell, MA as well as numerous other collections. He is a member of the New England Sculptors Association and the International Sculpture Center.
