Item Description
The historic Race Point Lighthouse, located near Provincetown at the northern tip of Cape Cod, was named for strong cross-currents known as 'races' -- once a nightmare for merchant sailors. In Richard Harrington's monotype, Race Point takes on a dreamy quality, its simplicity of line set off by soft purple shadows, tawny ochre sea grass and a perfect Cape Cod sky. Race Point Light is a refreshingly uncluttered monotype measuring 20"(h) x 19"(w) in a gold wood frame under glass.
An award- winning artist and skilled teacher whose works capture the 'unique and quiet beauty around us,' Richard is a member of the Attleboro Arts Museum, the Art League of Rhode Island, the Cape Cod Art Association, the Providence Art Club, and the Rhode Island Watercolor Society. This is his 6th auction donation.
