Item Description

This painting is one of a continuing series of womens' portraits based on experiences studying faces as a speech therapist, make-up artist and actress. Butler's Kate rivets our attention and helps us to 'listen' with our eyes.

Kate is an acrylic on board mounted on an edge-painted canvas and measures 12"(h) x 12" (w).

Susan Butler graduated from Emerson College, attended the Swain School of Design and received an Art Certificate from Bristol Community College. Recent exhibits include the Attleboro Arts Museum's Juried Invitational "10 Visions, 10 Members, 10 Years," the Providence Art Club, Provincetown Art Club, and Imago Gallery in Warren, RI. A portrait of Susan's will appear in a group show at Christie's in London this September. She lives in Bristol, RI, where she maintains a home studio.
