Item Description
A former career as a landscape designer in Paris informs the work of French-born Christiane Corcelle-Lippeveld. Composition and flow, and the interaction of color and shape influence her printmaking. For Giraffe, Christiane used a solar plate, which is a light-sensitized material that offers an alternative to hazardous printing techniques. The solar etching is 20"(h) x 16"(w) in a black metal frame under glass.
Christiane Corcelle-Lippeveld moved to the United States after designing landscapes in the French suburbs. She has studied Fine Arts, Graphic and Web Design at the Museum School of Fine Arts in Boston and approaches the printmaking process with a contemporary sensibility. She brings depth to her work through solar plate etching and is fascinated by the "infinity of the superposition of all the layers, and the sophistication of the lines" that result. This is Christiane's first auction donation.
